A little look at Roksanda Ilincic’s AW13-14 London Fashion Week show…

Being one of only fifteen let in super last-minute from the standing side queue, I knew I was somewhat privileged to be witnessing Roksanda’s AW13 show. And as those witchy boots and powder-puff furs graced the Savoy’s grand catwalk this element of magic was confirmed.

A delightful fairytale of fashions – including both good and evil characters – designs came in orange, baby-pink and turquoise, then in dark, rich brown, black and burgundy. Clothes were structured, at times boxy, and at others egg-shaped in patent leathers. But all were hopelessly wearable, if I were so lucky.

A little look at Holly Fulton’s AW13-14 London Fashion Week show…

Oh! This autumn’s Fulton female is one to have me donning the bitchy evils, with that dishevelled barnet, Cutler and Gross peepers and colour-pop mouth I’m ‘well jel’ before I even get to the clothes.

But oh my, the clothes. Synonymous with print, Ms Fulton’s latest offering did not disappoint, as cute tailored designs were bestowed with geometric lipstick patterns and fly-posted images of grizzlies, big cats and snakes.

An edgy new waver who bypasses the queue for all the backstage antics, she creeps in her Underground pointers from late-night club to early-morning bar. The lovechild of Gaye Advert and Beatrice Dalle, with Debbie Harry as her fairy godmother.

A little look at David Koma’s AW13-14 London Fashion Week show…

There’s often a clue to key elements of a collection on the show invitation, but until said show is presented, it doesn’t tend to dawn on me. So it was an “Oh yeah” moment when David Koma’s designs, complete with the vinyl record-like shapes we had previously seen on the invite, were presented on the runway.

A bit like a bad-ass biker chick that had a keen interest in astrophysics, the Koma woman was futuristic and powerful.

In an interesting use of materials Koma played with plastics, which gave structure and stiffness to designs – leaving skirts full and swinging. Speaking of swinging, there was a definite Sixties vibe as circular patterns adorned dresses, which only grew stronger as both neck and hem lines got higher.

A little look at J. JS Lee’s AW13-14 London Fashion Week show…

Another little delight to tread the boards in the Portico Rooms was J. JS Lee. A lover of all things oversized, boxy and oh so tactile Jackie’s AW collection was a positive treat. To quote Freddy Mercury, ”I want it all, I want it now”.

Quite possibly constructed from cotton candy sheep, J. JS Lee was influenced by native African techniques, forming richly woven and all the more cosy pieces for the global traveller. But it wasn’t all sweetness and light, oh no. Super cute pastel shades were offset against masculine shapes, while totally and utterly awesome Oxford brogue-inspired shoes clamped feet to floor. With cut-out detailing and more of that wonderful wool, these are shoes I keep my fingers and toes crossed for.

Dramatic monochrome broke up the peppermint cream and Parma violet party, but it was still fun and games as a collaboration with Minor Term resulted in a range of cow skin clutch bags, delicately emblazoned with ‘Fragile’ tape.

As my Day Four was minus any shows, but plus lots of downloading and uploading images, I am more than excited to get my tush back into some lengthy queues and onto some uncomfortable white benches. And tomorrow – the last day of Fashion Week – looks like a good one for me.
