The Institute of Contemporary Art opens retrospective of photographer Juergen Teller…

Seeing the line between art and advertising and dancing upon it, Juergen Teller is a photographer whose work remains a favourite amongst art critics whilst managing to be commmecially viable in the same breath.

Known for his use of light and shadow, Teller’s images are often overexposed and raw. With a composition that’s so natural and care-free, it’s as if he’s a fellow party-goer bearing witness to the scene – which, by its very being demonstrates how skilful a photographer this man is.

Teller has captured iconic images of a 15-year-old Kate Moss, a naked Vivienne Westwood, Lily Cole, Kurt Cobain, Matthew McConaughey, along with a whole host of fellow celebrities. His campaigns for Marc Jacobs are perhaps one of his most well-known projects however, which portray his unconventional take on fashion photography most brilliantly.
