Lots of love for Tessa Metcalfe
Once again, my sister has introduced me to a wonderful jewellery maker (read about the first one here), with one of my Christmas gifts, and now I must introduce her to you.
Hackney born and bred, Tessa Metcalfe spent her childhood between the capital and her grandmother’s Suffolk home; which, filled with oddities, including various stuffed animals and tomes of dark fairy tales, sparked her lust for the curious.
Discovering a dead pigeon one day, she took it home and learned taxidermy, creating the so often thought unsightly creature into something charming. Finding beauty in the most unexpected of places, and not one to waste a thing, Metcalfe went on to clean and cast the birds’ feet that she experimented with (donated by her father; victims of other animals or roadkill). The result? Truly exquisite jewellery.
