Sugary-Sweet at the Seaside

beach huts in lyme regis

As is to be expected, ice cream and the beach make the perfect partnership, but none more faultless than these delicious pastel-hued huts at Lyme Regis, Dorset. Happily curving around the seafront, I am almost inclined to forget the cone and just devour these instead, almost.

The Szimpla Life

Szimpla is the biggest and most famous of the ruin pubs in Budapest, Hungary

Hiding behind a nondescript facade on Kazinczy utca in the heart of Budapest, lies a vast grotto of eclectic decor, electric lights, satisfying beats and pleasingly cheap booze. Welcome to Szimpla Kert, Budapest’s first, and indeed greatest ruin pub. Transforming doomed and derelict buildings into lively drinking dens, ruin pubs took over Budapest’s nightlife back … Continue reading

Love for The Black Keys

The Black Keys T Shirt, Music, Fashion

I came, I saw, finally… Last night I was at long last able to witness the fitness of The Black Keys at the O2 Arena, London. Any slight disappointment I felt to be seeing them for the first time in such a vast venue was soon quashed as the sound quality was uh-may-zing and the … Continue reading

Bric-a-Brac, Antiques and Tat

Antique Doll, Vintage, Flea Market, Shopping, Antiques

An afternoon rummaging in Brackley’s Antique Cellar… Today brought sunny spells, cappuccino, cake and catching up with old friends. Making our way over to the lovely market town of Brackley in Northamptonshire, we ventured down into the musty depths of the Antiques Cellar, which housed a cornucopia of pretty, cute and quirky curiosities…

The Making of Harry Potter

The Making of Harry Potter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Film, Review

A sunny Sunday behind the scenes… Before delving into the movie-world of itty, bitty, baby, Potter, I must admit I was a tad sceptical. My two main concerns being, is this going to completely kybosh the magic? And, is Butterbeer going to live up to expectations? Because if not, that will totally kybosh the magic. … Continue reading

E4’s Udderbelly

E4 Udderbelly Southbank Centre London Lanterns, pop-up, festival

A summer’s evening in London… Last Thursday we were treated to a thoroughly warm and sunny summer’s day. And although fearing those blissful 24 hours may well be it for British summer (going by recent weather reports) I remain happy that I made the most of them- well, the evening at least. Always fond of … Continue reading

Life’s a Beach

Putsborough Sands, Beach, Devon, Travel, Best Beaches

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside… I’ve never really agreed with that sentiment, having always (to the shock and disgust of others) not really enjoyed the beach. Finding the very real predicament of ‘sand getting everywhere’ not a particularly enjoyable one to be in. And the drying qualities of the sea to … Continue reading

Honorary Hatter

Wembley 20 May Luton York, Football, review, Wembley Stadium

My day at Wembley… Today I was an honorary Hatter. As my Dad is Luton born and bred, he treated himself to a pitch-side view of today’s crucial match. And me? Well I tagged along, my first ever football match, at Wembley – witnessing the Premier Play-Off Final between Luton and York. I thoroughly got … Continue reading
